At Matabeleland
Institute for Human Rights, we are steadfast in our commitment to advancing human
rights, particularly the right to education, the right to development and right
to human dignity. Our signature educational initiative the English, Science,
Technology, Engineering, Agriculture, and Maths (ESTEAM) Support Project is,
thus, targeting to register 50 students for the national 2024 June and November
public examinations. This project is a testament to our dedication to advancing
the rights of children and promoting equal educational opportunities.

The ESTEAM
Support Project is targeting to register 50 Ordinary Level students (inclusive
of girls and boys from rural, underserved and impoverished communities) to
supplement their Ordinary level examinations in June and November 2024 run by
the Zimbabwe School Examination Council (ZIMSEC). By focusing on the core
subjects like English, Maths, and Science, which are essential for employment
and tertiary education advancement in Zimbabwe, we are opening doors for these
students to a brighter future in the fast changing 4th Industrial Revolution
world that is driven by technological advancements, automation, internet of
things and artificial intelligence.

This project
is not just about education; it’s about human rights. It’s about ensuring that
every child, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to learn,
advance and integrate to the global community. By providing these students with
the registration and tutorial resources they need to supplement their Ordinary
Level exams, we are taking a stand against child pregnancies and child
marriages, issues that often arise due to a lack of educational opportunities.
These are students who wrote in the public examinations the previous year and
did not pass these core subjects.
